Business Chinese is an introductory course for the second year Chinese language students who have completed CHNS 101 through CHNS 201. This course continues to train students to improve their speaking, listening, writing and reading skills in Chinese. It emphasizes business communication, culture and etiquette of China. Students will continue to learn Chinese characters and be introduced with topics such as routines of business trip in China, Chinese negotiation styles and current economic environment in China. This course will also familiarize students with the language uses and the writing system of the People's Republic of China.

Attendance

Class participation and effort are strongly emphasized. Students are allowed three unexcused absences without grade fine. For occasions such as family emergencies, sickness or interviews, students are required to bring in the written documents in order to get excused for the absences. After the three free absences, each unexcused absence will cost 1 point of the students' participation grade (15 points).

 

Tests

Ordinarily there are no make-ups in homework or any tests/quizzes. No late homework will be accepted. Absolute no make-ups will be given for the Final.
