Guidelines for Oral/Written Project for CHNS 224
|
|
1. Purpose of the project:
- Familiarize students with the current
situation of Chinese economy.
- Practice student's business language
skills; to train students'
independent research skills.
|
|
2. Student should choose one topic from
the following list, or elsewhere as
their project theme.

- China's Past and Today: A Look at
its Economic Development
- Language Politeness in Business
Chinese
- A Brief History of Chinese Foreign
Trade
- Chinese Special Economic Zones
- A Brief Survey of American Businesses
in China
- Chinese Business Etiquette and Cultures:
why do we need to learn them
- The Economic Relations between Hong
Kong and Mainland
- The Economic Relations between Taiwan
and Mainland
- The Economic Relations between US
and China
- A Brief Comparison of US and Chinese
Businessmen

3. The paper, typed or neatly hand-written
in Chinese, has to be at least three-
page long, and double-spaced. Please do
not exceed to five pages.

4. Place a cover page with your name,
title of the paper, and date in front of
the paper,and an outline after the cover
page.
|
|
5. The outline should list any main
topic discussed in each paragraph
throughout the paper.
|
|
6. The entire paper should consist of
the following main structures:
introduction, discussion and summary.
|
7.
For new words, sentence structures,
either avoid using them, find
equivalence in simpleChinese, or consult
dictionaries or your instructor.
I will make time available during my
office hours or by appointment
to help you with the project.

8. After your written version is approved,
you will be asked to present
your project orally to the class.
I will give you a sign-up sheet with dates
listed, so that you can sign up for your
presentation. The presentation is
also in Chinese. Please provide either transparencies
or handouts of your
outline to the class, so that everyone can follow
you.

9. The project is worth 15% of your
total semester grade. Please work hard to
achieve this grade.
